China install weapons for Shi Lang aircraft carrier

Strategy Page said Changxingdao Shipyard shipyard of China has installed radars, avionics and new weapons for Shi Lang aircraft carrier.

Accordingly, the Thi Lang was installed four antennas produced by China itself. Currently, the type of radar is used on the Shi Lang aircraft carrier has not been announced.

According to data from Strategy Page, radar stations were installed on the aircraft carrier Shi Lang has the same parameters of the radar parameters produced by the U.S. built Aegis system. Shi Lang owns short-range artillery systems have been improved Type 730, combined missile FL-3000N, able to destroy air targets at distances up to 9km. The missile has diameter of 12cm, 2m long.

China has purchased aircraft carrier Varyag of Ukraine in 1998 and then improved and renamed Shi Lang. Currently, China is conducting repair and modernize it.

According to previous notice, by 2011 China will test the carrier and the end of 2012 will be armed for the navy.
